2018 - A Year of Harmony and Co-operation

In 2017 we entered a new nine year cycle.  As a one year, 2017 represented new beginnings, a time when old concepts were challenged and new ideas were being implemented.  Initiatives were put into place and even though they seemed controversial, they challenged our collective thinking and allowed us to move forward.

As we enter into 2018, we move into a new phase of co-operation, balance and harmony as represented by the number two.  Of course, this is not without struggle as despite the numerology vibration of the harmonic two, we are still subject to the influences of the human condition.  That said, overall we can expect a year of general co-operation and balance.

This is an important year as it is a Master number 11/2 (2+0+1+8=11).  Master numbers carry a significant spiritual energy that is full of potential and possibility.  If we are collectively able to rise above the lower vibration of the two, then there is real potential for some greatness to take place in 2018.   The number two is all about intuition, so diplomacy and understanding will feature strongly.

A key function of the number two is co-operation and mediation, working in harmony with others.  There is an opportunity this year for more understanding with problems being resolved using tact and reason rather than sheer force.  The number two has a lot of potential for people to come together under the same umbrella to solve problems rather than achieve this singularly.  If there is any time where peace and resolution can be achieved, then 2018 is the year this would most likely happen.

Overall, the number two symbolises the union of peace.  It seeks to end separateness and unite all for the greater good.  This 11/2 energy will be available to us if we choose and it is up to us collectively to decide whether or not to use it constructively. Either way, 2018 carries a positive vibration.

Keep in mind that the universal year applies to humanity as a whole.  In order to determine your full chart you need to consider your personal year number in conjunction with these influences.

Tarot Card of the Month - Judgement

The Judgement card is ruled by Pluto, the planet associated with sexuality, physical and spiritual birth, death and resurrection.  The numerical value of this card is 20.

Based on the Christian Resurrection before the Last Judgement, an angel is depicted blowing a trumpet.  Beneath it, a group of humans are rising up from their graves with their arms outstretched.  They are greeting the angel in awe and reverence.

The Judgement card is about rebirth and resurrection.  It’s a calling for us to accept the past and let go in order to move on.  This is a time of significant change, when the querant has finally ‘seen the light’.  They are ready for change and to do things differently.  There is no way to change the past, it has already happened.  The only way forward is to accept and forgive mistakes and begin again.

This is a time of transformation, when we are ready to heed our highest calling.  We must be honest with ourselves and judge what best course of action needs to be taken in order to transform our lives.  We are ready to become who we truly are based on our past experiences.

With the lessons already learnt we must now decide how best to put future plans into action while being true to ourselves.  There are many different paths that can be taken and the Judgement card urges us to make decisions based on our own integrity.

How to Make a Smudge Stick

House cleansing is an ancient ritual that can help remove negativity and restore harmony to your home. It can also be used in any space or on objects that require cleansing (refer to my previous article How to Cleanse Your Home with Sage, 3 January 2013). Making your own smudge stick is easy and fun to do. Here is a video I made a while ago on how to make your own.

Aromatherapy Revitaliser

Essential Oil Air Freshner

Making your own air freshner is easy.  It’s also 100% natural, non toxic and great for the environment.  I use this room spray every day, particularly at night before going to bed as a room/linen spray.  It’s very healing and also makes a great gift idea.

You will need:
-  A small water spray bottle (125ml or similar)
-  10-12 drops of essential oils of your choice
-  Vodka (40% alcohol)
-  Distilled water or pure bottled water

The basic recipe is for every half cup of water, you will need 3-4 tablespoons of Vodka (40% alcohol) and 10-12 drops of essential oil.

It’s important to use essential oils and not fragrant oils.  Fragrant oils are manufactured scents and are often toxic.  Good quality essential oils are usually available at your local chemist for a reasonable price.

Put all the ingredients into the spray bottle, give it a shake and you’re ready to go.  Spray in the air as a room deodoriser or use as a linen and bedroom spray.  It's also good for stress relief and eliminating pet odors.

Because of the alcohol content, the spray evaporates quickly and does not leave a damp residue. If spraying furnishings or fabrics, it's best to spray from a metre distance as this will distribute the scent and any dampness will evaporate within seconds.

Disinfectant

You can also make a disinfectant cleaner by combining 4 tablespoons white vinegar, 3 cups water and 10 drops of your favorite essential oil in a spray bottle.  You can use this cleaner anywhere around the home such as on benches, toilets and door knobs.  It’s safe to use on most surfaces and is completely non toxic.  See list of antibacterial essential oils below.

Choosing Essential Oils

Essential oils have different properties and you can adjust according to your preference.  Here are some suggestions to get you started:

Relaxation
Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Orange, Lime, Sandalwood, Rose, Jasmine, Bergamot

Antibacterial/Antiviral
Lavender, Eucalyptus, Chamomile, Peppermint, Clove, Roman Chamomile, Lemongrass, Lime, Tea Tree

I usually create a blend of oils, particularly for the air freshner.  If you prefer, you can adjust the amount of oils you use depending on your preference.  There are no rules!  Be creative and discover what works for you.

I will also be releasing a range of Essential Oil Air Freshners through my Store.  These aromatherapy blends are made specifically to help with sleep, romance, immune support and general health and well being.  Follow the link for more information Psychic Spirit - Aromatherapy Range

2017 - A Year of New Beginnings

In 2017, we enter a Universal 1 Year in numerology (2+0+1+7=1).  This marks the beginning of a new 9 year cycle.  While last year was all about endings, 2017 is all about new beginnings.

For a lot of us, 2016 was a tumultuous year.  Being a 9 year it represented endings, upheavals and changesA number of issues came to the fore in order for to healing to take place.  This was a karmic year and the shifts that occurred were necessary in order to clear out old energy to make way for the new.  Unfortunately, this was not without turmoil and many breathed a sigh of relief as 2016 ended.  This year, however, carries a completely different vibration.

The number 1 from a spiritual perspective is the number of creation, the primal force from which all other numbers spring forth.  It represents new beginnings, creativity, individuality and independence.  The number 1 is the initiator and leader.  It brings with it a pioneering spirit, full of determination and motivation.

In 2017 we can expect new ideas, concepts and innovations.  Because of the creative power behind the 1 energy, these ideas will manifest into reality and not simply be pipe dreams.  We need to adopt an open mind as some of these new ideas may seem eccentricHowever, this is typical of the 1 vibration and represents progress.  A lot of what happens now will determine the next 9 years.

As last year carried with it a sense of hopelessness, this year our sense of hope is renewed.  We can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and be prepared to embrace change rather than resist it.

On a humanitarian level, the global changes and upheavals that took place last year allowed us to develop a higher level of compassion and awareness and this will carry us forward into the next cycle.

Keep in mind that the universal year applies to humanity as a whole.  In order to determine your full chart you need to consider your personal year number in conjunction with these influences.
